The 2018 Nordic-Baltic Rural and Maritime Award winners were recently announced at the Swedish Rural Parliament Annual Meeting in May. One of the three winners was The Northern Fisheries Trail, a cooperation project among nine Polish FLAGs. The project developed a tourist trail linking and promoting attractions related to the fisheries heritage of each FLAG in three participating Polish regions. Activities in favour of cooperation and partnership continue to run at the Promotional and Educational Centres, which were set up as part of the trail, serving as community centres for trainings and local entrepreneurial support. Given the success of the project and the relationships it created, additional cooperation projects are foreseen not only to diversify the Trail’s offer but also to help build closer partnerships in the broader Baltic area. Study visits to fisheries in other Baltic countries are also foreseen.
