Community-led local development contribution to revitalizing EUs local areas will be discussed, analysed and celebrated over two days in Brussels this December at “Post 2020: Local action in a changing world”. The FSU is putting together a conference that brings together the four European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) that use this EU policy aimed at empowering local people in coastal, rural and urban areas in EU Member States.
From 3-4 December, the conference will include an exhibition of 40 successful CLLD projects that represent a positive impact on their communities across Europe. The projects are co-financed by the European maritime and fisheries fund (EMFF), European regional development fund (ERDF), European agricultural fund for rural development (EAFRD) and/or the European social fund (ESF). Half of the exhibition will be dedicated to projects given a helping hand by FLAGs. Conference attendees will be able to vote for the best projects in four separate categories. The winning projects, plus an additional one selected by a special jury, will all receive prizes at an awards ceremony held on the evening of 3rd December. The same evening will see the world premiere of a video on CLLD and featuring four projects using the different funds.
As well as celebrating CLLD, the conference will be an opportunity to both assess the current situation and look ahead. Activities will include working groups, contributions from CLLD practitioners outlining their visions for the future and a panel discussion between EU decision-makers and the people behind four CLLD projects.
