A cooperation project seeks to build a future for pesca-tourism in Greece

Twenty Greek FLAGs met on the 22-24 January to launch a cooperation project on pesca-tourism. With this initiative, they aim to promote the activity among the fisheries community as a diversification tool and a new source of revenue. For this, the project aims to: organise study visits for fishermen to Italy (a country with many years of experience in pesca-tourism); provide information on the national framework and funding opportunities for implementing pesca-tourism; explore the feasibility of implementing pesca-tourism in Greece according to the national framework; and organize training and networking opportunities for interested fishermen. In parallel, a pilot on collecting litter at sea by fishermen is envisaged.
