    --ARCHIVED as of 31 January 2020-- The Outer Hebrides is a chain of more than 100 islands and skerries located about 70 kilometres north west of mainland Scotland, of which 15 are inhabited. The Outer Hebrides Fisheries Area is defined using the Comhairle nan Eilean Siar Local Authority area which is has the same boundaries as many other organisations including the Outer Hebrides Inshore Fisheries Group.

    --ARCHIVED as of 31 January 2020-- Orkney is made up of 70 islands, 18 of which are inhabited. Orkney is both a rural and island community, and economy, in an extremely peripheral location off the North coast of Scotland, which gives rise to a unique mix of opportunities and challenges. The whole of the Orkney Islands’ are included in the FLAG area.

    --ARCHIVED as of 31 January 2020-- North East Scotland FLAG (NESFLAG) covers the fisheries communities of the Banffshire, Aberdeenshire, Kincardineshire and Angus coastlines. Within this area are two major fishing ports (Peterhead and Fraserburgh) and a number of smaller centres with a significant fishing industry, as well as several small villages with fishing heritage.

    The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly FLAG commissioned an analysis of the Social Return on Investment in order to measure the impact of its animation activities. It found that each euro invested by the FLAG brought a social return of €5.45 in benefits to the local community.
  • Boat stories: catching the human side of fisheries

    To help preserve and promote the local fishing communities of North Devon, UK, Boat stories set sail with the North Devon FLAG in 2014 to make 10 short films telling the personal stories of those living and working with boats in the area. The stories, told by the skippers or crew, open the door to a world mostly hidden to even those who live on the coast, enticing the audience to come and have a closer look.

    The first FARNET transnational seminar of the new programming period took place in Edinburgh, Scotland, from the 8th to 10th December 2015. It provided new opportunities for Managing Authorities of the European Structural and Investment (ESI) Funds to learn, inspire and get inspired in implementing the CLLD approach.
