FARNET

FARNET is the community of people implementing Community-Led Local Development (CLLD) under the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF). This network brings together Fisheries Local Action Groups (FLAGs), managing authorities, citizens and experts from across the EU to work on the sustainable development of fisheries and coastal areas.Read more

 

CLLD

Community-led local development (CLLD) is a term used by the European Commission to describe an approach that turns traditional “top down” development policy on its head. Under CLLD, local people take the reins and form a local partnership that designs and implements an integrated development strategy.Read more

 

Who's who

DG MARE

In the Directorate General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the European Commission, Unit “CFP and Structural Support, Policy Development and Coordination” is in charge of the implementation of CLLD under the EMFF.Read more

 

FARNET Support Unit

The FARNET Support Unit (FSU) is the technical assistance team established by the European Commission to assist in the implementation of CLLD under the EMFF through the European Fisheries Areas Network 2014-2020.Read more

 

Managing Authorities

Each national Operational Programme for the EMFF is overseen by a national Managing Authority (MA) which is responsible for developing the programme’s delivery systems and overseeing implementation.Read more

 

National Networks

National Networks play an important role in supporting the FLAGs to implement their strategies and transfer lessons from one area to another. Most Member States foresee some sort of networking support, either provided by the MA or by a designated network.Read more
