"Sustainable futures for fisheries areas" - Brussels, November 2011

More than 350 participants gathered in Brussels on November 3rd and 4th for the two day event, "Sustainable Futures for Fisheries Areas", organised by FARNET and the European Commission.

FLAG representatives, Axis 4 project holders, European and international institutions... all joined to witness and discuss many innovative paths that can help European fisheries areas look to the future: adding value to fisheries products and food processing, tourism, environmental protection, the knowledge-based economy, cultural heritage… a bounty of opportunities to diversify the local economy in fisheries areas and benefit fishing communities.

Throughout this event, an interactive exhibition as well as a series of thematic working groups and discussions offered the opportunity for networking, exchange and capacity building between local and global actors. You can find out more about the projects featured in the exhibition in FARNET Magazine n° 5 (page12).

You will find the presentations, participants list and first outputs of the conference in the table below.
