Public consultation on future EU co-financing of the Natura 2000 Network

Axis 4 provides opportunities for FLAGs to promote environmental projects dedicated to the sustainable management of resources and improving of the quality of the environment. FLAGs are therefore particularly relevant "operational units" when it comes to bringing together different stakeholders and users of coastal and marine protected areas such as those covered by the Natura 2000 network.

Prior to issuing a Communication on financing Natura 2000, foreseen for mid 2011, the European Commission has launched an online public consultation in order to gather the views of different stakeholders on the adequacy of Natura 2000 integrated financing mechanisms and identify ways to enhance their success.

The consultation is addressed to public authorities, the private sector, environmental stakeholders and interested citizens in general and will be closed on the 17th of February 2011.
