Description of the area and its main challenges

The FLAG area consists of eight municipalities in the Warminsko-Mazurskie region (voivodship): Braniewo city, Braniewo municipality, Ploskinia, Frombork, Tolkmicko, Elblag, Gronowo Elblaskie and Markusy. The FLAG association was established at the initiative of fishermen from the Vistula Lagoon area and other local leaders. The Vistula Lagoon is not only used for fishing, but is also an excellent place for sailing and water sports.

The main challenges facing the area include: a high rate of unemployment and limited employment opportunities; the risk of fish losses due to poaching; making use of this underused aquaculture resource; and addressing the lack of information on and promotion of the area’s touristic potential.
