Description of the area and its main challenges

Lake Vänern is the largest freshwater lake in EU and the third largest in Europe. Due to its size, fishing practices there are very similar to sea fisheries. The average age of the fishermen is very high and the rejuvenation of the community is low. An important way of increasing the profit for the fishing area is to improve the processing level of the harvested fish and promote tourism.
