Description of the area and its main challenges

This is a coastal zone, including a number of small islands, with a long history in fisheries activities, including shellfish gathering, but with a high economic and employment dependency on the sector.  Its flat sandy beaches and warm climate also offer an attractive destination to tourists, and the area boasts numerous hotels, water sports facilities as well as nature reserves such as the "Parque Natural Illas Atlánticas" (Atlantic islands nature park) and the "Complejo Dunar de Corrubedo" (the Corrubedo sand dune complex). The main challenge that we face is high unemployment and low economic activity.
