Zavod Voluntariat is the Slovene branch of Service Civil International (SCI). SCI is a worldwide peace movement started in 1920 in the aftermaths of the First World War and connects more than 35 national branches on five continents that work together with more than 80 partner organisations throughout the world.

We are also a member organization of Global Education Network of Young Europeans (GLEN), network of International Volunteer Organizations for Development (IVCO), Slovene network of volunteer organizations, and a member of Slovene platform for development cooperation and humanitarian aid – SLOGA.

Voluntariat was founded in 2000 on base of reorganization of Association MOST, founded in 1991, and is aiming to promote social justice, sustainable development, international understanding and solidarity through voluntary service and non-formal education. The main activities of the organisation are international work camps, youth exchanges, development of non-formal educational tools, organization of the seminars and training courses for volunteers, promotion of global education and socio-economic inclusion, development and advocacy for recognition of international volunteering as important value and tool to combat global injustices and provide better opportunities for young people.

In 2010, the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of Republic Slovenia granted to Voluntariat the status of organization in public interest on the field of youth. Voluntariat is also an accredited organization for sending and hosting EVS volunteers since many years and is recommended organization for implementing various youth projects by the Slovene national agency MOVIT. Voluntariat is also EU Aid Volunteers certified organization.
