VSO began operating in Ethiopia in 1998 following a formal invitation from the government of Ethiopia to support the education sector. Since then, VSO Ethiopia has expanded the scale and reach of its country program in the areas of health and secure livelihoods. Currently, VSO Ethiopia is implementing three core programs: maternal neonatal health, inclusive education and youth employability and enterprise. Following are the strategic objectives that will guide VSO’s work in the next years:
1) VSO’s work in health will seek to reduce the incidence of maternal, newborn and child mortality and enhance improvements in reproductive and sexual health amongst impoverished and marginalized people.
2) To improve equitable access to quality education services in Ethiopia to meet the learning needs and aspirations of impoverished and marginalized populations.
3) To empower vulnerable youth for employment, entrepreneurship, and productive, healthy lives
