TECHO works across 19 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean to overcome poverty in slums, through the collaboration between families living in extreme poverty and young volunteers, that are mobilized in order to actively engage in finding solutions to the the communities problems and emergencies. More than one million young people have volunteered through TECHO, working with the most excluded population in 613 urban slums in order to promote the Community Development, through the strengthening of community and youth capabilities and the development of housing and habitat initiatives (communitarian infrastructures). To complement, TECHO works to influence public policies denouncing the reality of the slums, as well as positioning them on the public agenda by generating information and concrete proposals.
The main objective of “TECHO international” is to follow up, support and facilitate the coordination of the 19 associated entities working in each country of intervention.
