Since 1994, MdM El Salvador has worked under different socio-political contexts on projects that have been evolving according to Public Health needs and the humanitarian context of the country. Activities have been developed through coordinated actions with national and departmental Health Ministries, El Salvador´s Ombudsman for Human Rights, the Ministry of Education, the Salvadoran Institute for the Development of the Woman, the Ministry of Justice and other local entities and civil society bodies. In total, the organisation has implemented 32 projects and two regional conventions (Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua).
Since 2016 MdM Spain and MdM France have driven a regional strategy on migrant populations called "Improving access to health and protection of migrants in transit to Mexico and of migrants suffering forced returns to Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador".
MdM´s activities in Salvador are based on MdM´s principles with an emphasis on the need to incorporate Human Rights and Gender approaches across all areas of work.
