ICCO Cooperation was founded in the Netherlands in 1964 and is an international NGO currently operating in 44 countries with an annual budget of 86 million euro (2015) and a total of 393 staff members at the end of 2015. ICCO Cooperation has six regional offices and 10 country offices.
ICCO’s strategy until 2020 is based on a mission of creating a just world without poverty through the twin core principles of securing sustainable livelihoods while pursuing justice and dignity for all. Twin, because a livelihood without rights is not sustainable and because dignity only comes with having a livelihood in which rights are respected. Given its network and track record, ICCO made a strategic choice to focus its efforts on economic empowerment, food and nutrition security, business and human rights and emergency assistance/disaster risk reduction. ICCO cooperation works with (networks of) around 900 local partner NGOs, faith based and secular organisations, farmers' groups and producer organisations and, as a member of the ACT Alliance, works closely with its other member organisations.
