ICCO Cooperation was founded in the Netherlands in 1964 and is an international NGO currently operating in 44 countries with an annual budget of 86 million euro (2015) and a total of 393 staff members at the end of 2015. ICCO Cooperation also has six regional offices supporting the work of the country offices.
ICCO’s strategy until 2020 is based on a mission of creating a just world without poverty through the twin core principles of securing sustainable livelihoods while pursuing justice and dignity for all. Twin, because a livelihood without rights is not sustainable and because dignity only comes with having a livelihood in which rights are respected. Given its network and track record, ICCO made a strategic choice to focus its efforts on economic empowerment, food and nutrition security, business and human rights and emergency assistance/disaster risk reduction. ICCO cooperation works with (networks of) around 900 local partner NGOs, faith based and secular organisations, farmers' groups and producer organisations and, as a member of the ACT Alliance, works closely with its other member organisations
