GVC is active in Lebanon since 2006. GVC is involved in several projects and partners with several Ngos to cope with the emergency of Syrian refugees fleeing the civil war. GVC actions since the beginning of the Syrian war have involved more than 117.000 people, through the assessment of vulnerabilities and by ensuring Syrian families a short-term access to basic services, shelter and wash, adequate health assistance, promoting good hygiene practices and reducing the risk of disease, carrying out the distribution of kits for water purification and kitchen equipment, mattresses, blankets, and winterization kits. In a scenario with over 1.2 million Syrian refugees arriving in Lebanon since 2011, GVC  also works to fill the gap between emergency and development, promoting measures to build local capacities, strengthening economic opportunities and resilience for Lebanese and Syrian refugees, supporting agriculture and job employment in order to generate income and support local authorities.
