GVC has been working in Guatemala since the ’80s. Over these years, GVC Guatemala has consolidated its experience in the following areas: socio-productive development, promotion of women’s and youths’ rights, education, food security, water access and sanitation. GVC has also implemented several projects fostering disaster preparedness and disaster response in poor and marginal areas. Likewise, GVC activated response and recovery intervention after the tropical storm Agatha (2010) hit rural Cantel and Almolonga (Department of Quetzaltenango). Moreover, GVC recently carried out a project to respond to drought in Huitán and Cabricán (Quetzaltenango) as part of a humanitarian consortium. GVC is a non-governmental, secular and independent organisation founded in Bologna (Italy) in 1971. We have been active all over the world for more than 40 years and we are currently present in 26 countries.
