GVC has been operating in Bolivia since 1987, starting its activities in the South Yungas region with intervention in the WASH sector for the population of La Asunta.
GVC has worked in six of the nation’s nine departments: La Paz, Cochabamba, Santa Cruz, Beni, Pando and Oruro. Since the outset, GVC has worked in different sectors in the country, consolidating experience in education and culture, human rights (especially children’s rights), environment, health, rural and agricultural development. The projects run by GVC Bolivia are mainly focused on the fight against poverty, the protection of human rights and natural disaster prevention. GVC Bolivia has actively worked to strengthen and consolidate the intervention by Ombudsmen for Children, which takes care of children and adolescents living on the streets, in the cities of El Alto, La Paz, Oruro, Cobija, Cochabamba and Santa Cruz. In the rural development and education fields, GVC Bolivia has placed emphasis on higher technical education and the creation of viable alternative forms of production in rural areas. GVC is a non-governmental, secular and independent organisation founded in Bologna (Italy) in 1971. We have been active all over the world for more than 40 years and we are currently present in 26 countries.
