Doctors of the World has developed a humanitarian programme largely based around the needs of refugees, but also around supporting the response to Ebola in Sierra Leone. Our intention is to develop programmes in 4 main areas: Vulnerable Migrants, Women and Children, Harm Reduction and Assistance for people at risk. Doctors of the World has been building a humanitarian action capability since April 2014, designed to add value and grow the impact of the whole Médecins du Monde network response. The capability developed has several aspects to it which contribute to humanitaran response: funding, human resource mobilisation, strategy, academic involvement in operations, communications and advocacy. We are now at the stage where we are ready to start developing programmes as the primary actor, rather than as a secondary partner.
