The mission of SANL is:
- to stimulate and enhance the scale and the quality of the Dutch contribution to the national and international response to HIV/AIDS and other STIs
- to stimulate and enhance the scale and the quality of the Dutch contribution to the care and support for people living with HIV (PLHIV) or other STIs.
In a field where more parties are active, SANL unites, stimulates joint vision and facilitates fine-tuning and collaboration. AAE plays this role on the European level and thus fits well into the overall goals and activities of SANL.

AIDS Action Europe’s mission is to unite civil society to work towards a more effective response to the HIV epidemic in Europe. We strive for better protection of human rights and universal access to prevention, treatment, care and support.

As regional office of ICASO, AAE is part of ICASO’s mission to mobilize and support diverse community organizations to build an effective global response to HIV and AIDS. This is done within a vision of a world where people living with and affected by HIV and AIDS can enjoy life free from stigma, discrimination, and persecution, and have access to prevention, treatment and care.

To empower European youth by giving them access to high quality sex education and a downloadable mobile guide with the latest information on sexuality and STIs at their fingertips, thus enabling them to make qualified and informed choices in their everyday lives about sexuality. The ambition is to make youth able to better understand their own as well as others` sexuality, and be more accepting of themselves and tolerant of others, in addition to enabling them to avoid situations that may escalate to sexual bullying or abuse or simply unprotected sex. Hopefully this will make young people more comfortable with themselves and around others, and able to avoid STIs and unplanned pregnancies.
Ultimately, the goals are to achieve lower prevalence of STIs and unplanned pregnancies, as well as to demonstrate to the European health professional sector the efficiency of the open and candid approach to sexual health education.

The general objective of the project is to promote the sexual health of young people across Europe by improving the understanding of youth sexual aggression and victmization (YSAV) and improve the (policy, health care, educational) responses to YSAV. The knowledge base on youth sexual violence is notably limited and ill-harmonised, multicountry and multidisciplinary dialogue are virtually absent, and member states fail to learn from each other and develop shared, joint strategies towards context-sensitive responses to youth sexual violence. Specific strategic objectives of the project are to work towards fulfilling these needs and establish a multidisciplinary, multicountry expert network, strengthen (expand and harmonise) the knowledge base, and mobilize action by developing a context-sensitive European Action Plan.
