The IMPALA project pursues the general objective to identify, implement, and disseminate good practice in the planning, financing, building, and managing of local infrastructures for leisure-time physical activity.


The overall objective of the project is the reduction of alcohol consumption and related harms of adolescents and young adults in Europe. It is mainly focusing on youths between 12 and 21 years noted with risky alcohol consumption. TAKE CARE aims at keeping adolescents to the legal provisions as set in the respective national laws and at hindering alcohol consumption before the set minimum age. Furthermore the project aims at enforcing responsible alcohol use by younger generations and thus minimizing the risk of alcohol dependency and related health impacts as well as deviant behaviour.


Overarching goal is the improved prevention, diagnostic and treatment of HIV/AIDS/STIs through bridging gaps in practice, policies and cross-border cooperation.
Specific objectives:
- To scale up the implementation of combination prevention through network cooperation on national, regional and cross-border level in CEE and SEE
-To advance the evidence of HIV/STIs risks through outline of comparable risk behavioural indicators among vulnerable groups and to bridge findings to effective prevention
-To scale up early diagnosis of HIV/STIs for most at risk groups based on human and gender rights
-To augment country-specific evidence on treatment of HIV and co-infections (TB, HCV), to enhance interlinks in referral systems and develop guidelines for management and treatment of HIV Co-infections
-To improve HIV/STIs community based prevention for ethnic minorities (e.g. ROMA) and migrant groups through capacity building in participatory prevention
-To enhance accountability and evidence-based evaluation in youth HIV/STIs prevention, sexual and reproductive health and rights programmes



Soa Aids Nederland (SANL) is host organisation of the network AIDS Action Europe (AAE). AAE’s mission: unite civil society to work towards a more effective response to the HIV epidemic in Europe and Central Asia. We strive for better protection of human rights and universal access to prevention, treatment, care and support and work towards a reduction of health inequalities focussing on most at risk populations in Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia.


The development of effective methods of engaging with workplaces, and their workforces, to raise awareness and bring about organizational and individual change that lead to safer alcohol consumption, and thus a reduction in alcohol-related absenteeism, presenteeism and injuries. This will be achieved through the development and dissemination of a practical and robust cross-cultural tool-kit able to support the delivery of workplace-based interventions that will bring about safer alcohol consumption amongst the European workforce. The project will produce a report identifying best practice and recommendations for European, national, regional and local policy-makers. The project will improve the health and well-being of European citizens, contribute to the objectives of the Lisbon agenda, and enable workplaces to mitigate the potential negative consequences of the economic recession on alcohol-related harm.

