The general objective of the project is to contribute to the preparedness for bio-terrorist threats in the European Member States by evaluating, if necessary developing, distributing and quality assuring methods to identify and differentiate Viruses. The projects proposes a close collaboration with Russian experts in the field. The project aims at ensuring that high quality diagnostics of Smallpox and other Viruses are available for all 25 Member States.


General objectives of VENICE were: 1. To promote good practices in vaccinology and priority setting and decision-making in immunization policy. 2. To facilitate and accelerate the cooperation within the Community network on surveillance and monitoring of immunization programmes. 3. To build capacity within the vaccination field by providing tools and models founded on evidence based practice. 4. To support the improvement of human health through the delivery of safe, effective and efficient vaccinations.


The project aims to:
improve the knowledge about the health status of immigrants coming from third countries, and its health determinants considering: demographic dynamics of migratory processes and their impacts, the specific political and legal frameworks at the national and international levels;
identify best practices about immigrants’ access to healthcare (including health promotion, prevention and healthcare services);
contribute to the definition of health policies and strategies that could be implemented both at the EU and Member State level, aiming at better migrants’ integration.

