ENSP year 2016: Building Europe’s capacity to fight against the tobacco epidemic [ENSP FY 2016] [709605] - Operating Grant
POLICY by lead ENSP

• ENSP will support members in working towards influencing their respective Government to transpose the EU TPD into national laws: Identify ENSP members’ needs and priorities for year 2016 (M2);...
• ENSP will support members in working towards influencing their respective Government to transpose the EU TPD into national laws: Identify ENSP members’ needs and priorities for year 2016 (M2); Elaborate the corresponding necessary targeted supporting actions (M3); Implement the action plan (M4-11); Monitor the achievements and prepare next steps (M9-12).
• ENSP will support the national implementation of FCTC, and more particularly in the issue of “illicit trade” as well as “pricing”: Identify members’ needs (M1-3); Organise a capacity building workshop for members to help them increase action and have more impact in the implementation of the FCTC and the transposition of the TPD into national laws (M3-6); Identify Health ministers and negotiate the feature of Health messages on their websites; Identify Health ministers and negotiate the feature of Health messages on their websites
• ENSP will organise an annual network meeting (M9-12) to share information, promote good practice and generate interest.
• To increase our network within Brussels, we will link and work in partnership with local NGOs and organise regular coordination meetings (M2, 4, 6, 9, 11)

• We also regularly use social media to disseminate information: Maintain and update the ENSP Facebook page and the Cause – End Tobacco in Europe (M1-12);
• ENSP also launched a new Scientific Journal, which will be opportunistically promoted throughout the year: Maintain and update the journal’s website with relevant information including research papers, reports, policies etc. (M1-12)
• ENSP always takes the opportunity to present at various local, national and international events, including seminars, conferences, meeting etc.: Participate and/or contribute to tobacco related conferences and seminars (M1-12); Organisation of a European Tobacco Control Conference

• ENSP not only needs to increase the number of member organisations but also diversify the type of members: Target Baltic States, CZE, SLK, Croatia, NOR, ICE; Target individual person membership (M1-12); Explore new potential channels for memberships (Universities, Academics, Youth organisations) (M1-6)
• ENSP plays a major role in generating collaboration and networking between advocates and academics: Join universities’ existing national networking initiatives and enlarge them at European level on the basis of the SILNE-R and EQUIPT project partnerships as a start (M1-12)
