European Framework for Evaluation of Organ Transplants [EFRETOS] [20081101] - Project
General objectives

To evaluate the results of transplantation, by promoting a register of registries to follow-up on organ recipients.

Strategic relevance and contribution to the public health programme

This project will allow a comprehensive view on the quality and safety in solid organ transplantation in Europe in general, will gauge actual versus expected outcome and evaluate best practices to promote the health and safety standards in all member states.

Methods and means

To define a common definition of terms and methodology to evaluate the results of transplantation, by promoting a register of registries to follow-up on organ recipients. This European registry will enable the monitoring of health of the individual patients and will allow the evaluation of transplant results. This will result in many meetings with renowned experts in the field in order to reach consensus about the future development of the registry of registries.

Better possibilities of evaluating the results of organ transplantation in Europe.
Improved inside in the long-term effects on organ transplantations in Europe.
Improved health care system in Europe, with respect to organ transplantations. Better and safer surveillance system.
